This was a co-write with my partner, and it has a funk in there that wouldn’t have been there if I had written it myself. So because of the bounciness of the song, I just went to this more optimistic disco kind of place. I always had drag queens in mind when I wrote this. I really relate to drag queens, and this idea that we can put on our look and get out there and live our fantasy. Like ‘Staying Power’, it’s a perseverance song, but in a more fantastical way.
lyrics
[Verse 1]
Never die, I'll never die
Take everything, I’ll never die
Try and try, you can make me cry
I'm nobody, I can never die
Why everybody runs away
And take almost everything I made, oh?
[Chorus]
But I keep dreaming
And if it's not enough then
I’ll just keep my hopes and dreaming
With all my might, just listen
Truly dreams never die ([?] it's okay to cry)
They never die (Never die, baby, can never diе)
[Verse 2]
I'm just a girl in a real world
And no one cares, yеah, no ones cares
But I live in my mind and I see through my eyes
And that's enough when I get furious
Ah, life is just a cabaret
And ah, no one can take that away
[Chorus]
I keep dreaming
And if it's not enough then
I'll just keep my hopes and dreaming
With all my might, just listen
Truly dreams never die ([?] it's okay to cry)
They never die (Never die, baby, can never die)
[Bridge]
Dreamin', I’m dreamin’
[Chorus]
I keep dreaming
And if it's not enough then
I’ll just keep my hopes and dreaming
With all my might, just listen
Truly dreams never die ([?] it's okay to cry)
They never die (Never die, baby, can never die)
[Outro]
Dreamin'
Yeah, all might might
Dreamin'
Dreamin’, dreamin', dreamin'
I'll never die

Every minute of this is production perfection — filled with clever and beautiful textures, plus rich and full throated vocal performances. So simultaneously challenging and gorgeous and captivating. I feel suspended in each moment when I listen to this spective
I think it's difficult to write songs about something other than romantic love, and still be able to communicate the intensity with which those feelings can hit a person. Some of the entries on this album are fantastic examples of this niche. dani_bloop
Alvvays has always been great, but with this album they took it to the next level. Every one of these songs is lodged in my brain now, permanently (in a good way). s. moxley
Buoyant vocals and a varied palette of synths work in perfect tandem to create gorgeous art-pop that's able to address big realities. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 2, 2019
